CHILDRENS HOME
In this re imagination of the Handkerchief Factory, the building was turned into a home for children who are currently in the foster care system.
The building is home to 60 children between ages 5 through 12. At around 5-9 years old, a child's chances of becoming adopted or finding a permanent home becomes increasingly low. Instead of a typical group home setting, this home aims to provide a stable and secure home environment for the children.
The design goal was to create a large home that can house 60 children, but still feel like a domestic setting, bringing a sense of comfort and security to the children. Creating a domestic setting was important, but creating a fun and exciting environment for the children was important to the design. This house combines the two design challenges to create safe home for the children.
