HAUS AM STÜRCHERWALD

Haus am Stürcherwald is situated in the Vorarlberger village Laterns. The design follows the traditional archetype agricultural house and the typical Walserhouse. The roof and the wooden façade represent the more modern elements, they represent the present. There are two floors to the house, while the first level is very open and the circulation is very free, the second level consists of the bedrooms, reserving that level as the more private area of the house. Between the two floors, there is an interesting spatial link. Some parts of the main living area reach out to the roof where two open galleries correlate the main floor to the second floor. This gallery serves as a way of visual connection, allowing users on either floor to view either levels. It also functions as an interesting way of interacting with the occupants of the house.
